A great course for beginners, this class provides an introduction to the core technologies used in web development, including an introduction to coding. You’ll learn front-end development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and gain an understanding of how these all play a role in building the perfect site.
This course provides the perfect training opportunity for:

Live Online Classes:
Live online classes are a friendly and supportive alternative to watching video tutorials – you’re able to ask questions and receive answers from an experienced Web Development industry professional in real time. Your mentor will share their screen, demonstrating professional tools and techniques, then support you as you follow along, completing activities during class time.
Live classes are supported by an active class forum where your tutor provides additional information and feedback outside of class times. Classes are also recorded, so you can review them in your own time or log in to learn at a time that works best for you.

What you'll learn
HTML & CSS
This module gives you an introduction to the core principles in Web Development. Apply the fundamentals of Hypertext Markup Language and Cascading Style Sheets to develop a multi-page website.

This module covers JavaScript. You will develop an understanding of the principles and practice of coding using JavaScript for web development.

- Classes, objects, methods, properties
- Form validation
- Callback functions
- Navigation & interactive effects
- Frameworks
- Creating an SQL or Mongo database (introduction to Node.js)
As you near the end of the course your tutor will help you use your new coding skills while you work on your own web project.

On this course, you will learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript which is free to access.
For optimal performance when studying remotely, we recommend:
- Your computer is up to date (ensure you have the latest version of the necessary plug-ins, drivers, bug fixes and security updates)
- You have reliable internet speed and connection
- A web cam and microphone
- Do not use a Chromebook - Chromebooks are not intended for heavy-duty processing such as Adobe Creative Cloud software.

Entry Requirements
Enrolment Requirements
Please see below on the course entry requirements and other information before enrolling. Upon application, we will request the following information and documentation before you start the course.
- Completed Enrolment Form - Upon application we will ask you to complete an enrolment form.
- Verified Form of ID - We require certified copies of your identity and residency documentation. This can be a valid passport or birth certificate.
- Proof of NZ Residency or Citizenship - If not stated on your passport of birth certificate, you will also need to provide proof of citizenship/residency in New Zealand if applying as a domestic student.
- International Students - Please contact us directly here to finalise enrolment and payment opposed to applying online. This micro-credential is open to individuals living or residing in New Zealand only.
Learners will be eligible to enter this Micro-credential if they:
- Are at least 16 years old, and
- Have basic computer skills and an interest in web development, and
- Hold NCEA Level 2 or equivalent evidence that they have the ability to succeed in the micro-credential
- Students with English as a second language require IELTS 5.5 (General or Academic) with no band lower than 5.0.
Remote Learning Requirements
You will need a computer that has access to reliable internet, web cam and microphone.

Having worked as software engineer for over 15 years, Behshad joined Yoobee in 2016 for the role of Short Course Web and UX Design tutor. He has an education in Computer Science and a background loaded with web and software development, centered around UX Design.
Prior to his development role, he worked as a managing director. Behshad has a keen insight into what it takes to startup and run a successful online business. He thrives on work that challenges him to learn something new. Always ready for new business ventures, he has plenty of room up his sleeve for any potential opportunities. His passion lies with technology, as well as an avid collector of nostalgic and vintage Macintosh and IBM gadgets.
Dr Max Baddeley - Tutor
Max has a PHD in Sociology and has been tutoring Web Design/Development at Yoobee for several years and currently is working as a Web Developer.
His teaching methods revolve around understanding how the browser operates and the aim of Max’s course is to emphasise the ‘vocabulary of the web’. This includes beginner’s techniques and methods of how to create, plan and order the creation of websites through coding.
