What you'll learn

Scripting for systems administrators

Pull together knowledge from Commands and Procedures, as well as some web integration. Basic understanding of different software languages HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Hardware

Identifying, using and connecting hardware components and devices including troubleshooting and maintenance. Troubleshoot PC and mobile device issues including application security support. Install and configure laptops and other mobile devices. Follow best practices for safety, environmental impacts, and communication and professionalism.

Operating systems

Install and support Windows Operating Systems including command line & client support. Understand Mac, Linux and Mobile Operating Systems.

Introduction to networking

Explain types of networks and connections including TCP/IP, WIFI and SOHO. Compare & contrast cloud computing concepts & setup client-side virtualization and network issues.

Domestic students

*Course Related Cost  - Covers software licensing for student use on campus for the period of 1 year. This amount can be covered by Studylink's courses related cost loan. 

You will also need to purchase PC Building Simulator which costs approximately $25

International students

Entry Requirements

There are no mandatory prerequisites to meet regulatory body or legislative requirements for this qualification, however its recommended that students have 48 NCEA Level 2 credits in the best four subjects or Level 3 or suitable industry/ computing experience. Applicants without NCEA Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, you may be interviewed and considered on a case-by-case basis.

If an applicant's first language is not English, they must demonstrate English language proficiency at the level of IELTS 5.5.

International students need to be at least 18 years old.
